Cypress Gardens opened in January of 1936 as Florida's first theme park. It was originally known for its famous botanical gardens, friendly southern belles and ski shows. Following a major renovation, it reopened in 2004 offering visitors the former classic attractions as well as animal exhibits and 40 thrilling rides and coasters. The park features five roller coasters, including the pounding “Thunderbolt” and two wooden roller coasters, “Triple Hurricane” and “Starliner”. Bugsville has rides just for the smaller ones including “Gear Jammers”, “Dizzy Dragons” and “Upsy Daisy”. The Splash Island Water Park is also a new addition to the park and is included with admission. The water park features the “Kowabunga Bay” wave pool, the lazy “Paradise River”, “Tonga Tubes” and “Voo Doo Plunge” body slides. This Florida theme park also includes the renowned Water Ski Show that features the best water skiers in the world performing the world-famous human pyramid. The show runs 4 times daily and is a must-see for all visitors. The Star Haven Amphitheater also features weekend concerts from some of the country's most popular bands.
